Rocky Pen Ridgecentral Cherokee County, extends NE from Nottely River to Hiwassee River near Murphy.
Rocky Pointcommunity in S Pender County. Alt. 39. Inc. 1905; charter repealed 1945. Name applied to the area by Barbadian explorers in 1663 for an unusual outcropping of rock near Lane's Ferry in the otherwise flat country. The community was settled in the late eighteenth century. Clayton Hall, home of Francis Clayton, native of Scotland and member of the Wilmington Safety Committee, 1774, was there. Produces lumber. See also Lillington County.

Appears on the Collet map, 1770.
